Former Mayor of Georgetown Pt. Ubraj Narine, attending as a delegate of Guyana under the Universal Peace Federation (UPF), participated in high-level discussions with world leaders at the Inter-Parliamentary Speakers’ Conference held on November 2 in Islamabad. The event brought together international representatives for meaningful dialogue on peace, global cooperation, and shared development.

Founded in 2005, the Universal Peace Federation is a global, interreligious network of individuals and organisations — including religious, governmental, civil society, and business leaders — dedicated to building a world of peace marked by harmony, cooperation, and shared prosperity. It holds general consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), working with the U.N. in areas such as interfaith peacebuilding, peace education, and strengthening families.

Pt. Ubraj Narine

According to Mr. Narine, “Peace remains at the heart of these international engagements.” He underscored the importance of dialogue, mutual respect, and multilateral cooperation as essential tools for building a more harmonious global community. He emphasised that lasting peace can only be achieved when nations work together to foster understanding, strengthen democratic values, and support inclusive progress for all peoples.

During the conference, Mr. Narine also proudly showcased the beauty and promise of Guyana — a nation steadily rising on the international stage. He highlighted that Guyana continues to open its doors to broad and inclusive investment opportunities and has championed climate-change initiatives, all made possible through the vision of the Government of Guyana.

As Guyana advances toward becoming one of the world’s major oil-producing nations, Mr. Narine reaffirmed that the country remains committed to “sustainable growth, partnership, and prosperity for all.”

2025 Global Leader Peace Conference

The conference concluded with renewed calls for global unity, marking another significant step in peacebuilding efforts and strengthening Guyana’s voice on the world stage.
