By Mark DaCosta- The Alliance for Change (AFC) has officially recognised the results of the 2025 General and Regional Elections as announced by the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM), which confirms a victory for the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPPC) led by Mr. Irfaan Ali. After a year fraught with preparation and public engagement, the AFC issued a statement expressing gratitude to the citizens who participated in the electoral process, while emphasising their commitment to good governance.
The AFC has expressed its challenges in navigating the political landscape, particularly in dealings with GECOM, but ultimately accepted the election results. In their statement, the party extended congratulations to the PPPC leader, marking a new chapter in governance.
However, the AFC did not shy away from addressing some troubling aspects surrounding the electoral process. They specifically referenced the comments made by Observer Missions regarding the electoral campaign. These missions raised concerns about the influence of campaign financing and reported misuse of state resources in favour of the ruling party.
