The National Library of Guyana has received a significant donation of monographs from former President David Granger, a contribution intended to strengthen its role as a hub for learning, research, and national development.

The donation, made under the provisions of the Publication and Newspapers Act, was formally handed over to the institution’s Deputy Chief Librarian last week. Among the titles presented were National Defence and The Green State, covering a range of topics including public policy, education, security, food security, environmental sustainability, international relations, and social cohesion.

A monograph is a detailed scholarly work dedicated to a single subject, typically authored by one individual. These resources offer in-depth analysis and are valuable assets for students, educators, researchers, and policymakers alike.

A representative speaking on behalf of the former President described the donation as part of Mr. Granger’s enduring commitment to the intellectual advancement of Guyanese youth. “He has always championed education, environmental awareness, and the preservation of national identity. This donation is a reflection of his belief in education as a catalyst for transformation,” the representative said.

The National Library has welcomed the contribution, highlighting its value in expanding the collection and reinforcing the institution’s role as a democratic cornerstone and vibrant learning centre. The library also sees the donation as a lasting legacy that will inspire deeper exploration into Guyanese scholarship and identity.
