In a promising step toward political renewal, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) has officially approved the electoral symbol for the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM), allowing the party to contest the General and Regional Elections scheduled for September 1, 2025.

Nomination Day is set for July 14, marking a critical deadline for Forward Guyana and other parties to finalise their candidates. This milestone is not just administrative; it represents a fresh wave of hope for Guyanese eager to see transformative change in their nation’s political landscape.

Amanza Walton-Desir, the leading voice of Forward Guyana and most likely the party’s presidential candidate, expressed her enthusiasm about the development:

“This is more than a symbol—it’s a sign that the time has come to change the toxic political culture and make room for new, diverse voices to truly represent the people.”

She added, “Now it’s time to put our shoulders to the wheel and do the work to move Guyana forward.”

Political analyst Randy Gopaul, commented on the challenges ahead, noting that the campaign crew will need to work “beyond the call of duty” to meet nomination deadlines and campaign requirements. “This period is intense, but it’s also an incredible opportunity to expand political voices and seek pathways for inclusionary governance,” Gopaul said. “Forward Guyana’s participation signals a growing desire for leadership that truly reflects the country’s diverse population.”

With GECOM’s endorsement, the Forward Guyana Movement is now empowered to run candidates across the country, pledging to foster a future grounded in integrity, inclusivity, and courageous leadership. The party’s platform aims to unite citizens under shared values and bring about policies that uplift all communities.
