The Guyana branch of the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action (CAFRA) has joined the rising crescendo demanding justice for 11-year-old Adrianna Younge whose lifeless body was found on April 24, 2025 in the pool of Double Day Hotel, Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo.

In a release the organisation said it is shocked and angered by the horrific murder and a life that was tragically taken away in the most insidious manner.

The body made known that the condition of Adrianna’s body at the time she was discovered, is a chilling indication of the brutal violence that she endured and it could only be imagined, the level of suffering that she experienced in her last hours.

The 11- year-old went missing on April 23 while in the company of family at the hotel. The police initially said Adrianna left the hotel in a  red vehicle, but was forced to retract the statement when neighbours’ surveillance cameras showed she did not leave the hotel premises.

CAFRA (Guyana) is demanding  swift review of similar and strange disappearances which may be linked to similar circumstances.  The organisation  also extends “sincerest condolences to the family of Adrianna at this difficult time.”

According to the feminist action group the incident goes beyond mere murder.  “It exposes the prevalence of pure evil practices in our society, which have resulted in the disappearance of innocent children, women and other victims.”

The group warns that the questionable death of the 11-year-old  also serves as a stark reminder of the lethal repercussions of complicity and inefficiency in our systems of justice and order.

The Action group reminds that Guyana, like other democratic societies, has an obligation to protect and promote the rights of all its citizens to a life free from violence.

To this end the authorities are put on notice that the feminist body is “closely monitoring the handling of this murder case and look forward to the justice which MUST prevail.”

The statement concludes with the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action (Guyana) calling on the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions and the Guyana Police Force, to expedite investigations and ensure that all perpetrators of this heinous act, face the full force of the law.

See full statement below:

CAFRA (Guyana) Calls for Swift Justice

The members of CAFRA, in Guyana are shocked and angered by the horrific murder of 11 year old Adrianna Young, whose life was tragically taken away from her in the most insidious manner.

We extend sincerest condolences to the family of Adrianna at this difficult time and call for a swift review of similar and strange disappearances which may be linked to similar circumstances.

Most of all, we strongly condemn this heinous crime and demand swift and efficient action to be taken against the perpetrators of this brutal act against Adrianna.

The condition of her body at the time she was discovered, is a chilling indication of the brutal violence that she endured and we can only imagine, the level of suffering that she experienced in her last hours.

We therefore stand with the family and the community to demand swift and decisive action, which is free from any possible interference or cover-up.

This incident goes beyond mere murder.  It exposes the prevalence of pure evil practices in our society, which have resulted in the disappearance of innocent children, women and other victims. This also serves as a stark reminder of the lethal repercussions of complicity and inefficiency in our systems of justice and order.

Guyana has an obligation to protect and promote the rights of all its citizens to a life free from violence.  We are therefore closely monitoring the handling of this murder case and look forward to the justice which MUST prevail.

We further call upon the office of the Director of Public Prosecution and the Police Force, to expedite investigations and ensure that all perpetrators of this heinous act, face the full force of the law.
