“I would like to say to those residents that more support will be coming their way. We also provided 50 streetlights to the township of Anna Regina several weeks ago and those have also been installed.”

Subject Minister Nigel Dharamlall, who handed over the equipment, told the residents that this is one aspect of the realisation of the Government’s programme to enhance their lives by creating safe communities.

“Over the weekend, our team was in the Region installing in various Neighbourhood Democratic Council areas. Residents have already contacted us to say how happy they are as a result of these new measures,” the Minister told DPI on Monday.
The installation process started following discussions with residents about the critical areas in need of this intervention.

In November, residents benefitted from the installation of 58 solar streetlights undertaken by the Community Infrastructure Improvement Project (CIIP) through the Ministry.

The initiative is the first phase of a much wider programme managed by CIIP.
