In the ever-evolving world of science and healthcare, phlebotomy plays a crucial role in diagnosing and treating patients. Saskia Da Silva is one of the dedicated professionals making a difference in this field. She is a skilled and compassionate phlebotomist whose work ensures the accuracy of medical tests and the comfort of patients.

From an early age, Saskia knew she wanted to be part of the medical field. However, she found her calling in phlebotomy, a hands-on profession that requires precision, patience, and a deep sense of care for others. “I chose this career because I wanted to help patients while contributing to accurate diagnoses,” she shares. “Phlebotomy allows me to combine my passion for healthcare with direct patient interaction”

The combination of classroom learning and practical, hands-on experience helped her build confidence in her abilities. “Education in this field is not just about theory; it’s about mastering techniques that make patients feel comfortable and safe,” the young phlebotomist explains.

Overcoming Challenges

Like many professionals in the medical field, Saskia faced hurdles along the way. “One of my biggest challenges was learning to draw blood from difficult veins,” she recalls. “At first, it was intimidating, but with lots of practice, patience, and mentorship from experienced professionals, I improved my technique.”

Another challenge was handling anxious or fearful patients. “Many people are afraid of needles, so I had to develop strong communication skills and a calming approach to reassure them,” she says. “Now, I take pride in making the process as smooth and stress-free as possible.”

As an advocate for women in science, Saskia encourages young girls to pursue careers in healthcare and STEM fields. Her advice is simple yet powerful:

– Believe in yourself – Science needs more women, and you have what it takes to succeed.
–  Stay determined – Challenges will come, but perseverance will make you stronger.
–  Seek mentorship – Learning from experienced professionals can guide and inspire you.
–  Embrace learning – Every day is an opportunity to grow and refine your skills.
–  Be compassionate – Science isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about caring for people and making a difference.

For Saskia, phlebotomy is more than just a profession—it’s a calling. Her dedication to patient care and precision in her work serve as an inspiration to young women aspiring to enter the medical field.

As the world celebrates women in science, Saskia Da Silva stands as a testament to the impact that determination, skill, and compassion can have on the future of healthcare.
