By Bradley Jacks- West Indies middle order batsman Sherfane Rutherford was named in the ESPNCricinfo ODI Team of the Year on Monday.

Rutherford, a nominee for the ICC Male ODI Player of the Year award, is included thanks to 425 runs in seven innings in 2024 at an average of 106.25 including one hundred, a brilliant match-winning hundred against Bangladesh recently, and four fifties.

Also, West Indies Women’s ODI and T20I captain Hayley Matthews was named in the Women’s T20 Team of the Year.

Matthews was the year’s leading run-scorer in the format, compiling 1387 runs in 48 innings at an average of 33.82 including 12 fifties.

In addition, she also snared 57 wickets during that period at an average of 19.5 and an economy rate of 6.8.

Men’s ODI Team of the Year: Pathum Nissanka (Sri Lanka), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (Afghanistan), Kusal Mendis (WK) (Sri Lanka), Charith Asalanka (C) (Sri Lanka), Sherfane Rutherford (West Indies), Liam Livingstone (England), Azmatullah Omarzai (Afghanistan), Mohammad Nabi (Afghanistan), Wanindu Hasaranga (Sri Lanka), Taskin Ahmed (Bangladesh), Haris Rauf (Pakistan).

Women’s T20 Team of the Year: Laura Wolvaardt (South Arica), Beth Mooney (WK) (Australia), Hayley Matthews (C) (West Indies), Amelia Kerr (New Zealand), Nat Sciver-Brunt (England), Ellyse Perry (Australia), Marizanne Kapp (South Africa), Deepti Sharma (India), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Rosemary Mair (New Zealand), Shabnim Ismail (South Africa).
