The A Partnership of National Unity (APNU) has issued a statement condemning “the vile and illegal action of the PPP government in forcing Vincent Henry, MP, Leader of Guyana Action Party to leave the National Toshaos Council Conference” Tuesday at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre .
According to the statement Henry reported that the presentation of the Minister of Natural Resources was stopped because of his presence and the police escorted him out of the venue.
APNU said it rejects the purposed excuse that the conference is only for Toshaos.
Citing the Amerindian Act, the partnership note that Section 43(3)(b) states the National Toshao Council shall “allow Amerindians to attend its meetings.” Henry is of Amerindian extraction.
Given the aforesaid the partnership is calling on Guyanese to denounce the PPP’s action for what it is: “a blatant violation of the rights of Mr Vincent Henry and another act of PPP bad-mindedness and control freakism.”
According to the partnership “no wonder the PPP continues to lose support among Indigenous Guyanese across all regions.”
