Last evening Vice Chairman of the Institute for Action Against Discrimination (IFAAD), former Mayor Pt. Ubraj Narine participated in the Democracy Talks series held in Guyana, which focused on European Parliamentary elections.
The highly engaging event was a collaborative effort coordinated by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the European Union (EU), and the University of Guyana.
The Democracy Talks series aim to foster dialogue and understanding of democratic processes worldwide. Attendees had the opportunity to delve into the intricacies of the European Parliamentary elections, gaining insights into electoral systems, voter engagement, and governance practices.
The Democracy Talks series continues to serve as a critical platform for fostering democratic values and enhancing political participation in Guyana and beyond.
Narine told Village Voice News exposure to events of this nature could help Guyanese better understand the value and importance of democracy to building a cohesive society and good governance. “We can learn of best practices in other countries and how we can adopt these to build a better Guyana for all Guyanese,” he offered.
