Dear Editor

ICELAND: Renewable energy provides almost 100% of ELECTRICITY PRODUCTION, with about 73% coming from HYDROPOWER and 27% from GEOTHERMAL POWER Most of the hydropower plants are owned by Landsvirkjun (the National Power Company) which is the MAIN Supplier in ICELAND.

With Guyana’s Blessings of OIL and GAS Revenues, a STRATEGIC LONG-TERM PLAN with incremental YEARLY SCALABLE WORK is achievable by a Government with VISION, TEAM, PLAN, RESOURCES, towards EXECUTION.

Best Practices Assistances is available to Guyana, from ICELAND, at a request from Guyana Ministry of Foreign Affairs on behalf of the Government of Guyana.

The 7 Renewable Energy Strategies IDEAS are as follows:

  1. Support entrepreneurs and INNOVATIVE ideas.

Guyana is blessed with old money entrepreneurial persons, like the Gafoors, Kissoons, Mazarallys, who should be invited to take the LEAD for this program with a COMPREHENSIVE PLAN.

  1. Government funding that absorbs the technical risk is critical.

Government LEADERSHIP with FUNDING, will exhibit Guyana’s commitment towards this GOAL.

  1. Leverage your natural renewable resources.

Guyana is blessed with WATER, WIND, and SOLAR Assets which should be harnessed for MEASURABLE OUTCOMES.

  1. Collaborate across sectors

Commonsense and Street Smarts LEADERS will know that Collaboration across sectors will harness skills, talents, and resources.

  1. Capture CO2 from the air

This is achievable for a small scale with systems available, including ExxonMobil who is a GLOBAL LEADER.

  1. Develop and maintain a database of best renewable energy practices

A DATABASE will be an excellent resource to record and use the Global BEST PRACTICES.

  1. Have women, men, and youth voices at the table.

Since 1966 Guyana’s Independence, RACIAL CONFICTS, are continuing, and a determined efforts to INVOLVE WOMEN, MEN and YOUTHS, from Businesses, Government, Trade Unions, Civil Society and Youths, IN DECISION MAKING will be a BETTER PATH for measurable OUTCOMES, ACHIEVEMENTS and DELIVERABLES.

Assuring You of my Highest Consideration.

Sincerely

Dr. Shamir Andrew Ally
