Guyana’s Looming Peril, The Danger of Appeasing the PPP Government

In the brutal landscape of Guyana’s political arena, the cowardly practice of appeasement often emerges as a strategy to survive PPP brutality. History is clear on the consequences of appeasing corrupt government officials and in the case of Guyana, the dangers of appeasing the PPP (People’s Progressive Party) government loom large and ominous. Those who believe in placating the crocodile, hoping to delay their fate, fail to grasp the stark reality—they will inevitably be consumed.

The PPP leadership is characterized by a disdain for weakness and a propensity towards brutishness. Many of their leaders were raised in environments tainted by abuse, lacking an understanding of fundamental human values like kindness and empathy. Instead, they manipulate these virtues as tools of control, prioritizing power over the welfare of the Guyanese people, including their own supporters.

For over two decades, the PPP’s grip on Guyana has stifled progress in every sector, notably in education. Shockingly, a significant portion of the Guyanese populace remains illiterate despite years of PPP rule. This neglect of education underscores the party’s disregard for human development, consigning swathes of the population to perpetual ignorance.

If change is to be realized in Guyana, citizens must unite and demand it unequivocally. No longer should they accept one-off grants or compromise with a regime indifferent to their plight. The PPP must be held accountable for the use of Guyana’s abundant resources, which should be directed towards robust social and human development programs. President Irfaan Ali owes the people of Guyana a vision that prioritizes the advancement of its citizens.

The time for appeasement has passed. Guyanese citizens must stand together and demand substantive change from their government. The fate of the nation hangs in the balance, and only through collective action can a brighter future be secured for all.
