The World Trade Centre Georgetown (WTCG) and News Talk Radio 103.1 FM have entered into a strategic partnership to establish and operate a new broadcast studio at the World Trade Centre Georgetown. The studio will expand the station’s ability to deliver programming focused on business, education, entrepreneurship, current affairs, and community issues, while continuing to provide the entertainment content listeners have come to enjoy.
The collaboration will see the establishment of a modern broadcasting facility at the World Trade Centre Georgetown, providing a hub for informative and engaging programming that reflects Guyana’s evolving economy and society. The initiative is intended to support entrepreneurs, professionals, investors, students, and the wider public through a mix of informational, educational content, and entertainment.
The partnership recognizes the important role radio continues to play in connecting communities, sharing reliable information, and promoting economic opportunity in an increasingly digital world.
Surendra Dhanpaul, Managing Director of News Talk Radio, said the station aims to become a catalyst for entrepreneurship and economic growth across Guyana.
“With Guyana’s growing economy, we want to be a driver of commerce through business programming. There are lots of opportunities out there beyond being a social media influencer, and with access to loans from the Guyana Development Bank, we want to add value to people’s dreams. Whether it is understanding the different types of business legal structures, managing cash flow, accounting, or most importantly, marketing on platforms like radio, we want your money to work for you as you grow with us.”
He noted that while business and educational content will form an important part of the station’s programming, listeners can also expect engaging entertainment and lifestyle content that reflects the interests of Guyanese audiences.
Dhanpaul said trusted local media remains more important than ever.
“In a world where we don’t know what is real and what is fake, radio plays an important role in providing the public with accurate information.”
He added that audiences are increasingly seeking authentic local voices and genuine connections.
“People are experiencing what I describe as AI fatigue on social media and are returning to local media for genuine human interaction.”
Dhanpaul also highlighted the station’s efforts to strengthen connections between Guyana and its overseas communities.
“Over the past two years, we have built one of the strongest bridges between Guyana and its diaspora. Through partnerships with terrestrial and internet radio stations in the New York Tri-State area and Miami, we have created opportunities for Guyanese at home and abroad to connect through shared content. It has been a dream of mine to make this happen since 2010, and it is gratifying to see that vision become a reality.”
The new studio will provide opportunities for businesses, industry experts, community leaders, educators, and entrepreneurs to share knowledge, discuss emerging opportunities, and engage with audiences on topics ranging from business development and financial literacy to culture, entertainment, health, technology, and community affairs.
The partnership is also expected to enhance coverage of business events, trade opportunities, professional development initiatives, and issues affecting Guyana’s economic growth. Through a balanced mix of informative and entertaining programming, the station aims to inform, educate, inspire, and engage listeners across the country.
