Hodge’s Unbeaten 140 Puts West Indies in Command Against Bangladesh

Shamar Springer will join West Indies‘ squad for their two-match Test tour of Bangladesh. He replaces fellow seam-bowling allrounder Keemo Paul, who according to a CWI statement, “will return home for personal & family reasons.”
The 28-year-old Springer has played three ODIs and 12 T20Is but is yet to make his Test debut. Springer has scored 1043 runs in 23 first-class games at an average of 32.59, and taken 58 wickets at 27.87. He enjoyed a productive season with the bat for Barbados in the 2026 West Indies Championship, scoring 251 runs in four games at 50.20, but found wickets hard to come by, picking up seven in eight innings at 42.00.
Ojay Shields and Nial Smith were also considered as replacements for Paul, but both are out of contention with injuries, the CWI statement said.
Apart from Paul, West Indies will also be without in-form white-ball captain Shai Hope, who has been rested from the Bangladesh tour, and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph, who was withdrawn for workload-management reasons. Paul had initially replaced Joseph in the squad.
Springer and Paul were both part of West Indies’ white-ball tour of India, which concluded on Saturday in Bengaluru with the final T20I washed out. West Indies lost the three-match ODI series 2-1, and drew the five-match T20I series 2-2.
West Indies’ Test squad will now head to Bangladesh, where their tour will begin with a three-day warm-up game in Dhaka from October 22 to 24. Mirpur will host the first Test from October 28 to November 1, and Sylhet the second Test from November 5 to 9.

Updated West Indies squad for Test series vs Bangladesh

Roston Chase (capt), Jomel Warrican (vice-capt), Joshua Bishop, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo (wk), Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Shamar Springer, Kevin Wickham.
