Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has left Bangladesh for Guyana to join the unbeaten Guyana Amazon Warriors in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League.
Miraz departed Bangladesh on September 5 and is set to link up with the Warriors as the franchise continues its CPL campaign.
His arrival comes at an ideal time for the Guyanese franchise, which opened its home leg with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over the Jamaica Kingsmen at Providence.
The Warriors restricted Jamaica to 159 for seven before reaching 160 for two in only 17.2 overs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz led the chase with 54 from 35 deliveries, while Guyanese batsman Mavendra Dindyal produced an explosive 33 from 17 balls.
Shai Hope remained unbeaten on 39, while Shimron Hetmyer finished unbeaten on 30 as the Warriors completed the victory with 16 balls to spare.
The victory kept the Warriors unbeaten and provided a strong start to their five-match home leg.
Miraz now joins a side carrying significant momentum.
The Bangladesh international brings experience across formats and adds another all-round option to the Warriors squad.
His ability to contribute with both bat and ball gives the franchise additional flexibility as the tournament moves deeper into its decisive stages.
The Warriors’ latest performance also demonstrated the depth of their batting.
Dindyal’s rapid start helped establish the platform, while Gurbaz accelerated the innings before Hope and Hetmyer completed the chase.
Earlier, Jamaica’s Hassan Khan produced one of the most aggressive innings of the match, smashing an unbeaten 60 from just 28 balls, including six sixes, to help the Kingsmen recover from 87 for six and reach 159 for seven.
But the total proved insufficient.
The Warriors’ bowlers had earlier kept Jamaica under pressure, with Dwaine Pretorius taking two wickets and Khary Pierre also claiming two.
With Miraz now joining the squad, attention will turn to how the Warriors deploy him and whether his arrival can further strengthen a team that has already established itself as one of the early forces of the tournament.
For Guyana, the timing could hardly be more significant.
The Warriors have begun their home campaign unbeaten, the Providence crowd has been energised by the team’s performances, and another international player is now arriving to strengthen the squad.
The challenge will be maintaining that momentum as the competition intensifies.
For now, however, the Warriors have both form and reinforcements on their side.
