The Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) extends warm greetings and best wishes to all Muslims in Guyana and across the wider community as they observe Youman Nabi.

This sacred occasion provides an opportunity to reflect on the life, teachings and example of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), particularly his messages of compassion, justice, humility, dignity and concern for the vulnerable.

WIN Rejects Ali Meeting, Warns Against ‘Normalising’ Attacks on Parliament

At a time when Guyana continues to confront serious social and economic challenges, the values of fairness, solidarity and respect for human dignity remain as important as ever. The labour movement recognises that the pursuit of justice is not only about wages and working conditions, but also about building a society in which every citizen is treated with dignity and has a fair opportunity to prosper.

Youman Nabi also reminds us of the importance of unity, tolerance and peaceful coexistence. Guyana’s strength lies in its diversity, and our different faiths, cultures and traditions should serve as bridges that bring communities together rather than divisions that pull us apart.

The GTUC therefore encourages all Guyanese to use this occasion to recommit themselves to kindness, service, justice and respect for one another.

May this Youman Nabi bring peace to our homes, strength to our families, unity to our nation and blessings to all who observe this sacred occasion.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi Mubarak.
