Guyana’s premier swimmer and Olympian Raekwon Noel continued his remarkable run at the Central America and Caribbean (CAC) Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, claiming his second gold medal of the competition while establishing another Games record.

Noel delivered a dominant performance in the men’s 200-metre butterfly final on Wednesday evening, touching the wall in an impressive 1 minute 56.82 seconds. His winning time not only shattered the existing Games record but also lowered his own Guyana national record by approximately three seconds.

The Guyanese star finished comfortably ahead of Venezuela’s Manuel Diaz, who claimed the silver medal, while Mexico’s Rafael Arizpe secured bronze.

The victory marks Noel’s second gold medal of the championships and his second Games record. He opened his campaign on Tuesday by winning the men’s 200-metre individual medley, where he also established a new Games record.

Earlier on Wednesday, Noel signaled his intentions by winning his preliminary heat of the 200-metre butterfly in 1 minute 59.52 seconds, finishing ahead of Puerto Rico’s Andres Brooks and El Salvador’s Ventura Rodrigo. That performance saw him advance to the final as the top-ranked qualifier.

Noel’s outstanding performances continue to cement his status as one of the Caribbean’s elite swimmers and represent another milestone for Guyanese swimming on the regional stage.

With two gold medals and two Games records already secured, Noel has once again showcased Guyana’s growing strength in international aquatics.
