Current GECOM Cannot Deliver Free, Fair and Credible Elections

Dear Editor,
At the memorial service in town and the funeral service at Upper Corentyne, several mourners huddled in groups speaking in hushed tones of what happened. They know his lifestyle; they know how he earned money corruptly and spent money lavishly. I eaves dropped! They mentioned names of several for whom he fronted and laundered money. He is one of several launderers washing ill gotten proceeds. The names of the Chief and the Boss came up repeatedly as did others in ranking government positions and in state agencies.
A who is who of the cabinet and of diplomats and heads of agencies were there. They had no time to attend funerals of the poor and activists who gave their lives for the party and for Cheddie. They have time for corruption. He fronted for so many in government in the equivalent of over a hundred billion in Guyana dollars. He has a lot of money outstanding for dem boys and one female Minister; she is shifted to another ministry where there is also plenty money to siphon off from local works.
Those speaking quietly about his line of business laundering money were convinced it was not a natural death. Something strange happened. They knew the female who was sent to him; I didn’t see her at the funeral. She is the outside girl of the chairman of a state agency which alloted him billions in contracts. The chairman was unaware that she was also with the deceased in addition to him and others. The deceased has outstanding some US$ three million for the chairman, money looted from the ministry. People in the know poke fun at how chairman lost his outside girl and money. Will the chairman collect from the wife of the deceased? Will the chairman get back his girl, a thin chutney dancer who bleached her skin. What will the chairman’s wife say? She is known to be upright. Plenty of money to gain! We wait!
There was more to the death than what was publicly stated. Did someone order that he be rubbed out because the thing wasn’t shared right.  The deceased was holding out on a huge amount, angering a few who organized for the deceased to collect on their behalf. The deceased was handling gold for a former Minister whose trademark was gold.
It was not a heart attack. His heart burst open violently. The wife of a former minister now in another role traveling around was known to send a chutney dancer to the him; the dancer was seen with him. She was there when he died naked. The girl phoned the person after his death before anyone else was informed, long before hotel staff and medics came. The former Minister diplomat was also informed.  Money is also outstanding to him as are several other officials.
The boss instructed police to have a quick autopsy. The police did what was instructed. Will we ever know the true cause of death? Was there a cover up?
The deceased is holding tens of millions in American dollars for the boss and tens of millions more for the Chief and others. NDIA alone paid $10 Billion thru 2025 to the deceased. Tens of billions also came from other ministries for equipment and work that can’t be found. Just imagine how much money was collected in local currency. Plus the tens of millions in American dollars as fees that investors paid to get land and contracts and oil blocks.
The FBI was closing in on an investigation. He had revealed names for who he was laundering stolen state funds. Was he rubbed out for that reason? We may never know.
Till now, police have not questioned the dancer. The deceased family has not shown much interest in a forensic investigation of cause of death! A lot of money to be gained!
I will miss him! He bought me a lot of drinks!
Yours Truly,
Name Withheld
