Launched in February of this year, the annual Masters  Promotions/Ivanoff Vodka Nationwide Domino Tournament has been in full effect in all ten (10) Administrative Regions across Guyana, culminating on May 1 to 3 at the Sophia Exhibition  Complex in Georgetown. A total of fifty-seven (57) teams from all across Guyana congregated for  three (3) days of excitement and fierce competition.

On May 1, the King and Queen Domino Competition was underway with residents from the East  Coast of Demerara, Shon Adams and Saskia Cliffe, taking the coveted top spots; winning cash  prizes, trophies and a hamper (for the Queen) compliments of Massy Group of Companies.

May 2 saw the first two (2) rounds of aggregate competition which meant that the teams who won  the most games would advance to the quarter finals. On May 3, the third round of aggregate  wrapped up with twenty-seven (27) teams advancing to the quarter finals. After intense match ups only nine (9) teams advanced to the semifinals and after grueling rivalry, three (3) teams  stood tall in the finals. Those were Spartans, C7 and Target, all from Georgetown. Skill, patience  and focus were tested to the maximum and Spartans prevailed with a total score of 89 games,  followed by C7 with 79 games and Target with 55 games. Trophies, enormous cash prizes, goodie  bags and hampers were awarded to the top three (3) teams, while the fourth-place team, 10 to  Midnight, also received their fair share of rewards. The Most Valuable Player (MVP) went to Sean  Mc Kenzie of the Spartan team for winning the most individual games.

As the curtains closed on the nationwide tournament the coordinators and title sponsor thanked  all participants and iterated that dominoes as a sport is more alive due to events such as this. They  recognized that there is room for improvement in certain facets but pledged to continue to aid in  advancing the sport. A special token was awarded to the Ivanoff Vodka representative Ms. Shenifa  Fernandes for her dedication and encouragement as well.

For more than a decade, Ivanoff Vodka has remained a dedicated supporter of dominoes in  Guyana, reinforcing its commitment to community engagement, national pride and the  empowerment of both men and women through sport. Through sustained investment and  sponsorship, the brand continues to play a pivotal role in preserving one of Guyana’s most  treasured recreational traditions while promoting unity, sportsmanship, and cultural celebration  nationwide.
