Demerara Distillers Limited (DDL), a leading Guyanese manufacturing company, has expanded its national footprint with the opening of a new location in Lethem, Region Nine, on Monday, March 30. The expansion reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to improving product accessibility, strengthening its distribution network, and supporting economic growth in hinterland communities.

The new Lethem location serves as a hub for DDL’s distribution operations. The location also carries a DSL Cash and Carry outlet, along with additional business services.

Speaking at the opening, Chairman of DDL, Komal Samaroo, noted that the expansion reflects the company’s continued investment in national development and its mission to bring quality Guyanese products closer to consumers across the country.

“This new location in Lethem represents more than just growth for our company, it strengthens our connection with communities and ensures our products are readily available across the country. We are proud to deepen our presence in Region Nine and contribute to the local economy,” he stated.

Mayor of Lethem Mr. John Macedo also delivered remarks at the ceremony, welcoming the investment and highlighting its significance for the town’s continued development and commercial expansion. “This investment represents a significant moment for Lethem, but it is important to recognise that DDL is not just arriving in our community. For over twenty years, the company has been part of our growth and development. Today’s expansion builds on that history and reinforces Lethem’s position as a growing commercial hub in Region Nine.”

The Lethem branch is expected to create employment opportunities while enhancing service delivery in the region. It will also support cross-border trade, given Lethem’s strategic position as a gateway between Guyana and Brazil.

The opening event was attended by regional officials, business stakeholders, and members of the community, all of whom welcomed the investment and its potential to drive further development in the area.

DDL continues to play a pivotal role in Guyana’s manufacturing sector, remaining focused on strategic growth initiatives that enhance distribution, create opportunities, and support the country’s evolving economic landscape.
