The Guyana Olympic Association (GOA) has congratulated medical professional Vanessa Wickham as she continues her professional development in sports medicine through regional training in Barbados.
In a social media post, the GOA said Wickham is currently attending the Barbados Sports Medicine Association’s four-day Team Physician Development Course as part of the ongoing development of its medical team.
“This prestigious programme brings together physiotherapists and sports medicine professionals from across the Caribbean and beyond, and is being delivered by some of the region’s and the world’s leading sports medicine practitioners and doctors,” the association stated.
According to the GOA, the course is designed to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical expertise in providing medical care to athletes competing at the highest levels of sport.
The association noted that Wickham’s participation reflects its continued commitment to improving the quality and capacity of medical support available to Guyanese athletes, particularly as they prepare for regional and international competition.
The Guyana Olympic Association is the recognised governing body responsible for the promotion and development of the Olympic Movement in Guyana.
