Jade’s Wok, Pinnacle Business Services, and Cubs in Action International have  once again reaffirmed their commitment to youth sports by sponsoring the  National U14 Rapid Chess Championships. The tournament is scheduled for  Saturday, February 7, 2026, at School of the Nations, with matches beginning at  9:00 a.m. More than fifty players are expected to compete for the National Rapid  Chess Championship titles in both the Open and Girls categories. The  tournament will consist of seven rounds played in a Swiss System format,  utilizing a time control of 15 minutes plus a 5-second increment per move.

This year’s tournament promises to be exceptionally competitive. With 2025  champions Nicholas Zhang and Emma John having aged out of the category, the  field is wide open for a new pair of national champions to emerge.

In the open Category, several strong junior players are expected to contend for  the title, including current U12 Open Chess Champion Aiden Tinnie, former U12  Open Champion Abel Fernandez Ciria, Vir Narine, Arian Tinne, and Javier  Davenand, among others.

In the Girls Category, competition promises a mix of fresh talent and seasoned  players. Young talents Kataleya Sam, former U12 Girls Champion, Divya Persaud,  2026 U12 Girls Champion, Saura Ruplall, Rebha Lachhman, Amaya Sharma,  Chelsea Harrison, Sana Sreebalakumar, and Olivia Rajmangal, among others, will  all be vying for the championship title.

Trophies will be awarded to the top five finishers in both the Open and Girls  categories. Additional Trophies will be presented to the Best U10 and Best U12  for both Categories.

The GCF extends its sincere gratitude to Jade’s Wok, Pinnacle Business Services,  and Cubs in Action International for their unwavering support and commitment  to sponsorship and the development of Chess within Guyana.

We also wish to thank the School of the Nations, a steadfast partner that  continues to provide a premier venue for the federation’s tournament for several  years. For more information on the Guyana Chess Federation or on how to  become a member, visit our official website at guyanachess.gy.
