Dwayne Wade, a young entrepreneur from Region 10, asked himself a simple but revolutionary question: Why can’t Guyana produce what it eats? Dwayne Wade, the founder and CEO of Country Style Foods GY Inc., isn’t just running a business, he’s on a mission to rebuild local pride, one plantain chip at a time.

From his base in Linden, Region Ten, Wade has turned a powerful conviction into a growing agro-processing empire. “It started from the belief that Guyana should be producing more of what we consume,” he explains. He saw the paradox firsthand: local farmers struggling for market access while consumers reached for imported goods. That gap became his calling.

For other young Guyanese dreaming of starting their own ventures, Wade’s advice is grounded and clear: “Start where you are, with what you have, and remain consistent. Learn your numbers, understand your market, and don’t fear failure, it’s part of the process. Be patient, stay disciplined. Long-term success is built on resilience and integrity.”

For Dwayne Wade, entrepreneurship transcends profit. It’s a vehicle for value and impact. “If more young people focus on building businesses that solve real problems and create employment,” he reflects, “Guyana will be better positioned for sustainable development.”

In the crunch of a locally made plantain chip, Wade hears the sound of a changing economy, one where Guyanese ownership, Guyanese products, and Guyanese pride are back on the menu.
