Dear Editor,

This letter is a plea for you to get the truth from the Guyana Power and Light (GPL), why after the government has shouted from the roof tops that we are the fastest growing economy in the world; citizens must still suffer from the inconvenience of “blackouts”. Last night Tuesday 9th December, we had a long blackout starting about 10pm, today we had another power outage prompting this letter.

The Real Reason Amanza Walton Was Excluded

Our government, for the first time since Independence, now has a super abundance of money, therefore the machinery to provide a reliable generating capacity ought not to be a problem. The government boasted, for the Demerara grid, we now have the support of a Turkish power ship costing millions everyday. One smart aleck observed that there must be some mix-up with the word ship, and that it should be the twentieth letter of the alphabet and not the sixteenth letter that ends the word.

Dear editor could we get the truth, that why in spite of these millions of taxpayers’ dollars being spent in the electricity sector, that we who look forward to a bright Christmas, must face this season with stressful outages. I hope that as you seek answers the powers that be, know the difference between the truth, lies, and clever propaganda.

Respectfully,

Nigel Bacchus
