Dear Editor,

I have noticed that Minister Priya Manickchand is inundating social media, which is fine, but I wish to encourage all public officials to be mindful of how they expose our children.

As a former Minister of Education, who acts as if she is still the Minister of Education, refusing to give her colleague Minister Sonia Parag a chance, you would think she would have some level of decency when it comes to exposing children on the internet.

On Saturday, Minister Manickchand was plastered all over my Facebook page posing with half-naked children in one of our more depressed communities.

Now, I understand that Minister Manickchand may be on a mission to outshine the entire Cabinet, and that’s her business, but please, for the love of all things good, please leave our vulnerable out of it.

Children can be featured in a tasteful manner. But parading them without clothing and in their more vulnerable state is not only pathetic and classless, but it is unbecoming of any national leader. It is nasty behaviour.

Do better, Minister Manickchand. You were once a Minister of Human Services and Social Security for God’s sake.

I encourage President Ali and Vice President Jagdeo to do a bit of reigning in of this wild coot.

Signed,
A concerned and very annoyed citizen of Guyana
