West Indies beat Bangladesh in 3rd T20I:Complete first clean sweep overseas, Player of the Series Romario Shepherd takes hat-trick

Powered by fast bowler Romario Shepherd’s hat-trick, West Indies defeated Bangladesh in the third T20 as well. With this, the team completed a 3-0 clean sweep in the 3-match series, which was the team’s first clean sweep on foreign soil. Apart from Shepherd, Roston Chase scored 50 runs off 29 balls and led the team to a 5-wicket victory.

Batting first in Chattogram on Friday, Bangladesh were all out for 151 runs. West Indies achieved the target by losing just 5 wickets in 16.5 overs. Shepherd, who took 7 wickets, was chosen as the Player of the Series.

Tanzid did not get support

Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh had a poor start. The team lost 2 wickets for 44 runs. Parvez Hasan was out for 9 runs and captain Litton Das for just 6 runs. Opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was holding one end, and he took the team past 100 runs with Saif Hassan. Saif was out for 23 runs.

After the third wicket, the Bangladesh team collapsed and was all out for 151 runs. Tanzid scored 89 runs in 62 balls, hitting 4 sixes and 9 fours. Apart from him and Saif, no other batsman could even reach the 10-run mark.

Shepherd took a hat-trick

For West Indies, fast bowler Jason Holder and spinner Khary Pierre took 2 wickets each. Akeal Hosein and Roston Chase got 1 wicket each. Meanwhile, medium pacer Romario Shepherd took a hat-trick. He had Nurul Hasan caught on the last ball of the 17th over. Then, at the start of the 20th over, he sent Tanzid and Shoriful Islam back to the pavilion on 2 balls.

West Indies lost 3 early wickets

Chasing a target of 152 runs, the Windies team also had a poor start. The team lost 3 wickets for 52 runs. Alick Athanaze (1), Brandon King (8), and wicketkeeper Aamir Jangoo (34) were out. Roston Chase, captaining in the match, then steadied the team with Akeem Auguste. They both added 91 runs and brought the team close to the target. Both players were out after scoring 50 runs each.

Finally, Rovman Powell scored 5 runs and Gudakesh Motie scored 3 runs, leading the team to victory in the 17th over. For Bangladesh, leg-spinner Rishad Hossain took 3 wickets. Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan got 1 wicket each. West Indies had won the first match by 16 runs and the second match by 14 runs. The ODI series was won by Bangladesh 2-1.
