Guyana Leads The Caribbean With Fake Ph.Ds

Dear Editor,
Dr Peter Ramsaroop (Oct 5) questioned the credibility and competency of Dr Terrence Campbell, parliamentary leader of opposition APNU, to comment on economic and business matters. Responding to Dr Campbell’s critique of the injection and shortage of foreign currency (US dollars), Ramsaroop wrote: “… Campbell is attempting to assert relevance on matters far beyond his demonstrated expertise”.
Dr Campbell is a well known successful businessman who penned many articles on economic matters as well as on foreign currency shortage, currency flight, the natural resource fund, among other matters. I will let Dr Campbell, who studied in USA and Scotland, to defend himself. Dr Campbell is known to have a real, earned doctorate in business.
Dr Ramsaroop is questioning one’s credibility. So it is only fair to question his credibility. I wish to query Dr Ramsaroop’s academic credentials. Wikipedia writes: Peter Ramsaroop has a BS from Park University (Missouri), MBA from University of Missouri, and PhD (doctorate) from Greenleaf University”. A photograph corresponds with that of Peter Ramsaroop, the newly minted parliamentarian and the person who heads the important “Go Invest” state agency for business. It is curious why a Guyanese would attend universities in far away Missouri.
Park University and University of Missouri are real universities; they exist and are accredited to issue real diplomas after a course of studies. Greenleaf is a non existent university. It is “a university” without walls and without classrooms. It is a diploma mill. You pay a fee of several thousands American dollars and a diploma with a PhD with your name is sent to you; no academic instructions given and nothing learned. To present and or use such title as an academic achievement is a fraud. Anyone who uses such title lacks credibility.
The late Ambassador Odeon Ishmael purchased such a diploma and used the title “Dr” but after being exposed, he stopped using it. Another diplomat and who once headed a local state agency also used the “Dr” title from a purchased fake PhD; he too stopped using it after being exposed.
Can “Dr” Ramsaroop offer clarification on his doctorate so the public can assess his credibility and competence? In light of fraud surrounding the claims of academic credentials of Ian Andre Roberts, can Peter Ramsaroop attest that he completed the BS and MBA degrees on Wikipedia?
Yours truly,
Nathan Barton
