The Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC) extends sincere greetings to the Muslim community and the people of Guyana on the occasion of Youman Nabi, which marks the birth and life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).

This sacred observance offers an opportunity for deep reflection on the values embodied by the Prophet—justice, compassion, equality, humility, and service to others. His life stands as a beacon for the pursuit of social justice, the upliftment of the poor, and the protection of human dignity.

These are not only Islamic principles but values that the trade union movement also holds dear. The GTUC remains firmly committed to advocating for equity, fairness, and the protection of the rights of all workers and citizens, especially the most vulnerable in our society.

As our nation stands at a critical juncture—facing challenges related to political discrimination, exclusion, and threats to democratic expression—the message of Youman Nabi takes on even greater significance. We urge all leaders to be guided by the Prophet’s example of moral leadership and principled governance, and to recommit to building a just and inclusive society for all Guyanese.

On this occasion, we honour the contribution of the Muslim community to our national development and call for renewed unity across all ethnic, religious, and political lines.

Eid Milad-un-Nabi Mubarak.
May this sacred time bring peace, wisdom, and renewed purpose to our nation.

In solidarity,
Guyana Trades Union Congress (GTUC)
