International Day of Obstetric Fistula

Dear Editor,
In light of the new, indisputable facts recently made known by Melly Mel, and corroborated by credible citizens such as @Terrence Campbell, the trajectory of the upcoming elections in Guyana has changed. These revelations have stripped away the last veil of denial and confirmed what many of us have been saying all along — that our democracy is under direct assault *and the ruling party the PPP is directly to blame *
The time for the international community to denounce this widespread corruption is now. However , in addition to denouncing it, they must help stop it by sanctions and international indictments and other actions
No longer can those who, just five years ago, installed this immoral and corrupt regime, remain silent to protect their economic interests and political puppets. Silence, at this moment in our history, is complicity.
The citizens of Guyana will not stand by while you turn a blind eye to the murders of innocent children, men, and women. We will not remain idle while you allow this corrupt clique to register Commonwealth citizens who do not meet the legal requirements to vote. We will not stand by while you appoint supernumerary constables for the sole purpose of enabling electoral fraud.
We see the manipulation of state resources for political gain. We see the intimidation of journalists, the suppression of dissent, and the weaponizing of law enforcement to protect those in power. We see the looting of our national wealth while ordinary Guyanese struggle to feed their families.
To the international community — your credibility is at stake. You cannot preach democracy abroad while ignoring its destruction in Guyana. You cannot claim to defend human rights while allowing political violence and targeted killings to go unpunished.
To the Guyanese people — this election is far too important for us to remain passive. Our democracy, our future, and our children’s right to live in a free and just society depend on our courage today. We must stand united, vigilant, and unafraid. We must resist every attempt to rob us of our voice and our vote.
History will remember who spoke up, and who remained silent.

Yours truly,
Rawle Blackman
