In a major political revelation, former Georgetown Mayor and ex-Reserve Guyana Defence Force Staff Sergeant Pt. Ubraj Narine disclosed that multiple political parties offered him two of the highest-ranking positions in the country’s executive leadership ahead of the 2025 General and Regional Elections.

Speaking exclusively to GlobeSpan24x7, Mr. Narine confirmed that the Alliance For Change (AFC) approached him with an offer to serve as Prime Minister, while the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) and We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) Party extended separate offers for the roles of Prime Minister and Vice President, respectively.

“These offers were not taken lightly,” Mr. Narine said. “It was humbling to know that leaders across the political landscape saw potential in me to serve at the highest levels. But after deep personal reflection and consultation, I have decided to remain firmly with the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) and to stand in solidarity with the APNU Coalition.”

Mr. Narine formally declared his full support for APNU’s Presidential Candidate, Mr. Aubrey Norton, emphasizing that his decision was rooted in principle and patriotism.

“As someone who has served this country both in uniform and in public office, I cannot stand idly by while the Ali-led PPP Government continues to ignore the cries of ordinary citizens, perpetuate injustice, and widen the gap of discrimination,” he stated.

A vocal advocate for equality, fairness, and national unity, Mr. Narine underscored the urgent need for change, noting, “Guyanese deserve a government that serves all the people – not just a privileged few.”

The former Mayor, respected for his work in Georgetown and his strong voice against social injustice, called on citizens from all walks of life to reject violence, oppose discrimination, and unite in voting the PPP out of office.

“I believe in a Guyana where our diversity is our strength, where justice is not selective, and where leadership means service. I am confident that under Mr. Norton’s leadership, we can restore dignity, fairness, and opportunity for all Guyanese,” Mr. Narine concluded.

With this declaration, Pt. Ubraj Narine sends a powerful signal ahead of the 2025 polls, rallying support behind a united opposition and calling for a new era of leadership in Guyana.
