As preparations intensify for Guyana’s upcoming General and Regional Elections scheduled for September 1, 2025, the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM) has engaged with the Carter Center Election Observation Mission to raise key electoral concerns and advocate for a level playing field.

FGM Presidential Candidate, Amanza Walton-Desir, led a delegation of senior party leaders in a meeting on Thursday with representatives of the Carter Center, as part of the organization’s ongoing discussions with political stakeholders in the lead-up to the national polls.

During the meeting, Walton-Desir and her team expressed appreciation for the Carter Center’s continued engagement in Guyana’s electoral process and reiterated the Movement’s commitment to advancing democratic renewal in the country. The FGM delegation used the opportunity to highlight what it described as recent efforts to suppress alternative political voices, stressing the critical need for fairness and transparency throughout the election period.

“The Forward Guyana Movement emphasised the importance of a level playing field,” the statement noted, underscoring the party’s concerns over an increasingly constrained political environment.

Joining Walton-Desir at the meeting were Prime Ministerial Candidate Nigel Nyambe London, FGM Chairman Dorwain Bess, Elections Agent Nicholas Chesney, and National Candidates Malika Ramsey, Susan Farnum, Ronald Bulkan, and Randolph Critchlow.

The party reaffirmed its support for continued constructive dialogue with both international partners and domestic stakeholders, positioning itself as a strong advocate for electoral integrity and inclusive democratic processes.
