Cricket West Indies (CWI) has unveiled the squads for the upcoming West Indies A series against South Africa A, naming five Guyanese players across three teams in a move that highlights the country’s growing cricketing depth.

The series, set to take place from May 21 to June 11 at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground in St. Lucia, includes three 50-over matches and two A-Team Test matches. The Guyanese players selected are Kevlon Anderson, Ronaldo Alimohamed, Kemol Savory, Tevin Imlach, and Shamar Joseph—all of whom have impressed with consistent performances in recent regional tournaments.

“This is a significant opportunity for our emerging talent,” said CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe. “These matches will help us expand our player pool and strengthen the foundation for the senior team.”

Tevin Imlach, a standout wicketkeeper-batsman from Guyana, will captain the side in the first A-Team Test, while left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican leads the second Test. The 50-over squad will be captained by Alick Athanaze.

Notably, the series serves as a springboard for future international stars, with free entry offered to fans as part of CWI’s strategy to deepen engagement and showcase the region’s cricketing potential. It also builds momentum ahead of the West Indies Women’s “Full Ah Energy” home series against South Africa, which kicks off on June 11 in Barbados.

Guyanese Players Named:

  • Kevlon Anderson – Appears in all three squads
  • Tevin Imlach – First A-Team Test captain
  • Ronaldo Alimohamed – First A-Team Test
  • Kemol Savory – All formats
  • Shamar Joseph – Second A-Team Test

Match Schedule:

  • May 24: 2nd 50-over Match
  • May 27: 3rd 50-over Match
  • June 1-4: 1st A-Team Test

CWI Head Coach Andre Coley will lead the coaching unit for the series, backed by a support team that includes former West Indies pacer Jerome Taylor as bowling coach.
