Georgetown, Guyana — The funeral of 11-year-old Adrianna Younge, whose tragic and controversial death has gripped the nation, has been postponed. Her grieving mother, in a heart-wrenching public statement, shared the family’s reasons for the delay, opening up about her pain, gratitude, and hope for a proper farewell to her daughter.

“My heart is shattered beyond words,” she began. “As a mother there is no pain greater than losing your child, she was my heartbeat, my everything. My precious Adriana was the light of our lives, and in this unbearable moment we are clinging to the love she gave so freely and the memories that will live with us forever.”

Adrianna’s death, found lifeless in the pool of a popular hotel in Tuschen under suspicious circumstances, has triggered widespread public outrage and demands for justice. The family, still navigating their grief and the chaos of an ongoing investigation marred by police missteps and public distrust, says they need more time.

“Due to ongoing matters and our family’s need for space and clarity as we grieve, we have made the painful decision to postpone Adriana’s funeral today,” her mother said. “Please know this was not easy, but we want to honour her with the peace, love, and the dignity she deserves.”

She took time to acknowledge the overwhelming support pouring in from across the country.

“I want to take this moment, through my tears and brokenness, to thank each and every one of you near and far who have stood with our family during this impossible time,” she continued. “The support you all have shown us, the messages, prayers, hugs and tears shared with us, they have held us up when we thought we couldn’t stand. I’ve felt the arms of this nation around me and I am so deeply grateful.”

The family said new funeral details will be shared when they are emotionally and logistically prepared.

“We ask for your continued prayers and your understanding,” she added. “My baby girl touched so many hearts, and that love , your love, is helping us find strength. Thank you from the depths of a mother’s heart.”

The postponement comes as prominent forensic attorney Dr. Dexter Todd joins the family’s legal team, a move that signals renewed scrutiny and a more aggressive pursuit of answers in Adrianna’s case.

For now, a mother mourns, a family grieves, and a nation stands still, waiting for justice, and for the chance to say goodbye with the peace and dignity Adrianna Younge deserves.
