The Guyana Police Force has announced new developments in the ongoing investigation into the tragic death of 11-year-old Arianna Younge, whose body was found in the pool of the Double Day Hotel and Bar in Tuschen, East Bank Essequibo on April 24, 2025.
In an official statement released Saturday, the Office of the Commissioner of Police confirmed that several individuals, including the hotel proprietor and staff present on the day of the incident, have been questioned. Additionally, a number of police officers attached to Regional Division #3 have also been interviewed as part of the probe.
As part of standard investigative procedure, Assistant Commissioner Khalid Mandall, who serves as Commander of Regional Division #3, has been placed on administrative leave. Three other police ranks from the same division are currently under close arrest.
“The investigators are still interviewing persons who can assist with the investigations,” the release stated, signaling that the probe remains active and ongoing.
In a significant move, Adriana’s family has exercised their right to appoint an independent pathologist to observe the post-mortem examination. The family-selected expert is expected to arrive in Guyana on Sunday, April 27, and will conduct the autopsy alongside a pathologist assigned by the Guyana Police Force.
Authorities underscored that the post-mortem examination is a crucial step toward determining the exact cause of Arianna Younge’s death and advancing the investigation.
The Guyana Police Force pledged to keep the public informed as the case unfolds, assuring that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure a thorough and transparent investigation.
