Perception of Bias Threatens Barima Inquiry’s Credibility

Dear Editor,

On April 19, 2025, a TikTok/Facebook video surfaced, allegedly featuring a shirtless man of African descent named Sherwayne Warner. In this video, he makes derogatory statements about Afro-Guyanese, using terms such as “nigger” and “negro” while advocating for their repatriation to Africa, claiming they are worthless. His comments are highly offensive and have no place in modern society.

It is unacceptable for him to be allowed to insult and demean an entire race.

I urge all Guyanese to denounce Sherwayne Warner, also known as Dr. Love, and to report this video and others he has shared as hate speech, violating Facebook’s community standards. Furthermore, I call on the leadership of the Peoples Progressive Party/Civic to publicly condemn and disassociate themselves from Sherwayne Warner, as his remarks imply a connection to the party.

Finally, I trust that the ERC would investigate and sanction Mr. Warner accordingly.

Yours truly,
Lelon Saul
