Clarification of general abuse cases compared to sexual abuse cases

The Ministry of Human Services and Social Security’s Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Policy Unit (SO&DVPU) wishes to clarify information shared during the opening of Sexual Awareness Month at Umana Yana. During the address, a misstatement occurred regarding the reported frequency of sexual assault cases.

To clarify, the SO&DVPU receives over 300 reports of general abuse on a monthly basis. Specifically, the yearly figure for reported sexual abuse cases exceeds 300.
