CGTN – China welcomes all efforts to secure a ceasefire to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson said Wednesday in comments on a phone call between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump.

Mao Ning said at a daily press briefing that China has consistently advocated for resolving the crisis through dialogue and negotiation from the very beginning.

“We are glad to see all efforts that lead to a ceasefire, viewing this as a necessary step toward achieving peace,” Mao said.

In their Tuesday phone conversation, Putin and Trump agreed that the peace in Ukraine “will begin with an energy and infrastructure ceasefire,” according to the White House.
