As we celebrate Maha Shivratri, a night of divine energy and spiritual awakening, let us take a moment to reflect not only on our devotion to Lord Shiva but also on the future of Sanatan Dharma. This sacred festival is not just about fasting, chanting, and offering prayers—it is a reminder of our duty to uphold, protect, and strengthen our Dharma in a world that often seeks to diminish its essence.
There is no denying that Hindus have been gradually marginalised in various spheres—be it cultural representation or political influence. If we continue on this path of complacency, where will Sanatan Dharma be ten years from now? Will our temples stand strong? Will our scriptures be respected? Will our next generations know the depth of our philosophy and values?
Maha Shivratri teaches us the importance of destruction and rebirth—just as Lord Shiva destroys ignorance, we too must eliminate our indifference and awaken to the reality of our existence. Here’s what we must do:
- Educate the Next Generation – If we do not pass on the wisdom of the Vedas, Upanishads, and Bhagavad Gita to our children, who will? Sanatan Dharma is not just about rituals; it is a way of life that promotes peace, knowledge, and righteousness.
- Unity is Strength – The divisions within Hindu society weaken us. Whether by caste, organizations , or ideology, we must rise above internal conflicts and stand as one. A fragmented community is an easy target.
- Be Politically Aware – Politics shapes society, and as Hindus, we must be conscious of who represents our values and traditions. If we remain indifferent, others will decide our fate.
If we take these steps today, the next ten years can see a Hindu renaissance—where our temples are free, our traditions thrive, and our people take pride in their identity. However, if we continue to neglect our duties, we risk losing the very foundation of our civilization. Lord Shiva’s cosmic dance symbolises the balance between creation and destruction—let us ensure that what is destroyed is ignorance and weakness, not our Dharma.
On this sacred occasion of Maha Shivratri, let us pledge to not only worship Shiva but to embody his spirit—fearless, wise, and devoted to righteousness. The future of Sanatan Dharma lies in our hands.
Har Har Mahadev!
