Tatyana James, a pet groomer and young entrepreneur, has established herself as a rising star in Guyana’s pet grooming industry, following her journey from humble beginnings to running her own business. Based in Mahaicony, Tatyana’s entrepreneurial spirit has been the driving force behind her success, combining her love for animals with a dedication to professional grooming services.

Her path began in 2017, when she started working at Guyana’s first-ever pet grooming salon, Pawsome Pets. It was there that Tatyana discovered her passion for grooming, and it wasn’t long before she decided to branch out on her own. Since then, she’s been helping pets look and feel their best while building a successful grooming business.

Tatyana always loved animals, however her aunt, Luana Pierre, encouraged her to pursue grooming as a career. Her aunt’s support and seeing the joy of pet owners after their pets are groomed keeps Tatyana motivated every day.

Tatyana’s educational journey was no less challenging. A graduate of the Guyana School of Agriculture (GSA), she faced a tough decision after completing her studies—whether to continue her education at the University of Guyana or follow her entrepreneurial dreams. Opting to chase her passion, she took the leap and started her business, knowing that challenges that would come with it.

“Self-discipline was always a challenge during my studies,” Tatyana admitted. “Waking up for morning farm sessions was tough, but I always stayed focused on my grades because I knew I had to give my best.”

“Transitioning to business ownership came with its own set of obstacles. From financial management to building a loyal client base, I faced my share of difficulties. However, my persistence and constant learning have helped me push through, building a reputation for professionalism and high-quality service.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, Tatyana offers words of wisdom: “Keep God at the center of everything. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and growth takes time. There will be setbacks, but stay focused, stay positive, and don’t give up. Hard work pays off.”

Her entrepreneurial journey is far from over, and Tatyana continues to inspire those around her through both her business and her social media presence. Tatyana’s business can be found online at Tatty Grooms on TikTok, Instagram (@tattygrooms), and Facebook.
