The Alliance for Change (AFC), in a statement said, representatives of the party met with representatives of the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) last week in New York, United States of America (USA).

The AFC did not say who were part of the meeting. Village Voice News ,however, was reliably informed the meeting included AFC leader Nigel Hughes, and Leader of the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) and Leader of the Opposition Aubrey Norton. The PNCR is part of the APNU.

The party said the meeting is consistent with its methodology to pursue the broadest possible consultation with all relevant stakeholders. The AFC meeting comes at a time when the party is doing outreach in what some said is the intent to be part of a coalition to contest the general and regional elections, constitutionally due in 2025.

The outreach initiative, started under Hughes, was recently taken up by the PNCR who met the Working People’s Alliance (GAP) and Guyana Action Party (GAP).

In separate meetings the PNCR and WPA and PNCR and GAP issued statements of their commitment to pursue coalition politics. What is not yet know is whether there will be one coalition or several ,and who will be the presidential and prime ministerial candidates.

Meanwhile, the AFC in its statement said the meeting was also a continuation of the political working understanding between both parties within the National Assembly.

According to the party the meeting was cordial and productive, and there is an understanding that consultations will be ongoing as the political landscape unfolds in the upcoming political year.
