Dear Editor,

I would like to express my gratitude to President Irfaan Ali for his thoughtful response to the editorial calling for the conferment of the Order of Excellence (O.E.) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a citizen, I am pleased to see that the President has adhered to the sentiment of the editorial and made a decision in the best interest of our nation. Many heads of state have visited Guyana during the Ali’s government, and I know that they were not honoured with any national award.

Prime Minister Modi’s contributions to Guyana, particularly in the areas of economic development, energy, information technology, and infrastructure, have been significant. His efforts to strengthen the partnership between Guyana and India have had a real, positive impact on our nation’s growth, and for that, we owe him recognition.

Thank you, Mr. President, for making a decision that is both thoughtful and in keeping with the spirit of national unity and pride.

Yours truly,
Pt.Ubraj Narine, JP, COA
