Peng seeks stronger ties with Africa

(China Daily) Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, had a chat over tea on Friday with Antoinette Sassou Nguesso, wife of President of the Republic of Congo Denis Sassou Nguesso, in Beijing.

Peng welcomed the guest, who is accompanying Nguesso for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and a state visit, and spoke highly of her long-term dedication to promoting the development of healthcare in Africa.

Peng also recalled her memorable experience in the African country in 2013 when she visited with Xi.

She said China considers the people of the Republic of Congo as close family members standing by each other and looks forward to strengthening exchange and cooperation in various areas to benefit both peoples as well as people across the African continent.

The first lady of the Republic of Congo thanked China, especially Peng, for the invaluable support in promoting the development of healthcare, women and children’s welfare for the African people.

She also expressed the willingness to step up exchanges and cooperation with China in such areas as healthcare and education to contribute to the deepening of Africa-China friendship.
