Parliament in St Vincent and the Grenadines has taken a significant step towards enhancing regional integration and labour market efficiency by passing the Caribbean Community Skilled Nationals Amendment Bill 2024.

According to the country’s public information agency, this new legislation broadens the categories of skilled workers who can freely move and work across CARICOM member states.

The amendment is expected to create more opportunities for skilled professionals to contribute to the economies of various CARICOM nations. During the parliamentary session, Keisal Peters, Minister of National Mobilisation emphasized the need for young Vincentians to take advantage of the numerous training opportunities provided by the government.

She encouraged youth to acquire skills and qualifications that will prepare them for the eventual implementation of full free movement within CARICOM.

“The policies of this government are visionary policies,” Peters stated.

She pointed out the availability of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programs in St Vincent and the Grenadines, as well as various courses offered through the Adult and Continuing Education Division. (Loop News)
