Any attempt at psychoanalysing Bharrat Jagdeo, is inherently fraught with danger, all as a result of his malignant arrogance. For the man’s arrogance knows no bounds, evident in his weekly one man show, he characterises as a press conference. In fact, so arrogant is the man, that he fails to recognise his limitations, counting himself a specialist in all fields. Thus, with the aura of a connoisseur, he would pronounce on all matters; matters of the State, matters of the economy, matters of oil and gas etc.

Nevertheless, despite decades in the public sphere, we know little of the man who answers to the name, Bharrat Roseann Jagdeo. However, this we do know, he undertook an economic degree in Russia, complements of a PNC governmental scholarship. Moreover, this we also know, being of a limited intellect, mean his academic performance was subpar, hence earning a mediocre degree.

So, having been awarded a mediocre degree, a conceited Jagdeo returned to his birthland, where he was immediately accommodated at the Finance Ministry, before being promoted to Finance Minister. But Jagdeo aspired for much more, being of a tunnel vision, with eyes irreversibly focused on High Office. And that’s what he ultimately inherited, succeeding an aged Janet Jagan in 1999, before he constitutionally demitted office in 2011.

But having demitted office in 2011, Jagdeo was like an unpleasant groin rash: very annoying and hard to get rid of. For despite he served his constitutional two terms as President, the man coveted the throne of Vice President, where he lords it over all and sundry. Thus, with this unconstitutional period in office, Jagdeo to date, has registered decades in public service. However, despite this fact, Jagdeo’s record, not unlike his university degree, represents an embarrassing failure.

For he singlehandedly failed the Skeldon Sugar Estate Project. He singlehandedly failed the Amalia Falls Hydroelectric Project. He singlehandedly failed the Fibre-Optic Cable Project. He singlehandedly failed the Specialty Hospital Project. He singlehandedly failed the Berbice Bridge Project. He singlehandedly failed Clico. In fact, all these failures, irreversibly damaging to our economy, are a direct consequence of the mediocre degree he was awarded in Russia. Thus, to date Jagdeo’s unimpressive CV represents, a failed Junior Finance Minister. A failed Finance Minister. A failed President. A failed Vice President. As a matter of fact, he even failed at marriage albeit, it was a shameless sham.

Now, having recorded a catalogue of embarrassing failures, Jagdeo the political chameleon has reinvented himself, as an Election Pollster. Thus, as an Election pollster, he confidently asserted, even with a grand coalition of the opposition parties, PPP leading in his indisputable polls, will singlehandedly win the 2025 elections. But when one is to consider Bharrat Roseann Jagdeo’s catalogue of failures, and his party’s sordid record, none with half a brain, would take his prognostications seriously.

In fact, based on Transparency International irrefutable data, PPP is the most corrupt political party in this hemisphere, evident with rampant gold smuggling and tax evasion. Therefore, with this rampant corruption, there is a consequential suffocating cost-of-living crisis, where 50% of the masses are living in severe poverty. Moreover, compounding this cost-of-living crisis, is a dysfunctional electricity sector, which fails at providing the paying masses, a reliable service. Furthermore, with all the aforementioned tragedies, we have the education sector which has collapsed, with our children enduring nearly 3yrs of learning loss, whilst the teachers strike for more than pittance.

Besides, the healthcare sector crumbles before our very eyes, with our children dying from preventable diseases, even as our life expectancy stands the lowest in this hemisphere. Then there is escalating crime, where the masses are living in fear, since those who pledge to protect are themselves engaging in criminal activity. For these represent a fraction of the atrocities we endure under this installed government, yet this specialist in failure, Bharrat Roseann Jagdeo, would arrogantly prognosticate a PPP win in 2025.
