A businessman has been arrested and charged in Guyana for allegedly exporting gold without a license.

Saffee Ahmad, from 123 Street, Queens, New York, and Lot 38 Roraima Scheme, Versailles, West Bank Demerara, was apprehended by a member of the Major Crime Investigation Unit and charged in June under Section 8 of the Guyana Gold Board Act, Chapter 66:01.

The charge specifically relates to the offence of exporting gold without a proper license, as stipulated in Section 23(a) of the aforementioned Act.

Ahmad appeared before Principal Magistrate Judy Latchman at Diamond Magistrate’s Court number two, where he pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail set at $600,000.(Loop News)
