Onika Jervis, event organizer and founder of STRIDE592 was thrilled with the turnout. “Seeing  this many participants, especially many who are new to these timed 5K walk/run events along  with teams from Fitness Express, CrossFit, Bpi Guyana Inc, the National Park, Guyana Beverage  Inc, Edward B. Beharry in addition to the members of STRIDE592’s 5K training group has been  truly inspiring,” Onika said. “Together, we’ve managed to bring awareness for the Guyana Girl  Guides Association’s centennial Anniversary, enhancing the support systems for girls and  mothers in Guyana.”

The event started energetically with a pre-race Soca warm-up led by Vanilla, Soca Artiste and nine-time Road March Queen, followed by the main 5K up Carifesta Avenue and back to the park.  The morning was also packed with activities, including a Kids Fun Run and a special Mom  Celebration Circle led by Tracy of Pandama Retreat and Winery, ensuring a festive atmosphere  for all ages.

“One of the goals of our road races is to provide events where both our competitive athletes and  every resident can train, participate and celebrate their accomplishments in a fun social  environment,” added Jervis.

Post-race festivities featured massages, a diverse vendor market, coffee from Starbucks Guyana,  miniature golf from Nexgen Golf Academy and Driving Range, and fun-filled activities for children  sponsored by Enfagrow. These rounded out a day that celebrated health, family, and community  spirit.

This second year’s event has firmly established Miles For Moms as a key sports event gathering  that promotes mental, physical, and social wellness across generations.

Building on the success of this event, STRIDE592 also announced several upcoming activities  and health initiatives aimed at raising awareness and promoting the prevention of heart-related  issues within Guyana. Scheduled to launch in the coming weeks, the latter initiative will include  educational and fitness activities designed to engage and inform participants about the  importance of cardiovascular health.

STRIDE592 extends special thanks to this year’s sponsors – Supreme Laundromat, Oasis Water,  Edward B. Beharry, Sunshine Snacks, Movietowne, NexGen Golf, Branderz, Jamieson,  Enfagrow, WanSat Network, Living Turkoise, Starbucks, Hand-In-Hand Guyana and Health Care  International.

Founded to foster a culture of community wellness and engagement through walking and running,  STRIDE592 continues to bring people together through enjoyable and inclusive events.  Celebrating movement in all its forms, STRIDE592 ensures that every event is a vibrant, health focused community affair.
