EID AL FITR to begin on April 10, 2024…EID MUBARAK to ALL in Guyana and Globally

Doha: The Crescent Sighting Committee at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has announced that tomorrow, Tuesday, April 9, 2024, will be last day of the holy month of Ramadan. It added that Wednesday, April 10, 2024, the first day of the blessed Eid Al Fitr in Qatar.  Eid Holidays and next workday on April 16 th.

EID AL-FITR, also known as the “FESTIVAL OF BREAKING THE PAST,” is one of the most momentous events celebrated in the Islamic calendar. This special occasion marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, a time when Muslims fast from dawn to dusk, abstaining from food, drink, and other physical needs.

EID-AL-FITR marks the END of RAMADAN and FASTING.

EID AL-FITR is celebrated for ONE to THREE days, depending on the country. It is FORBIDDEN TO FAST ON THE DAY OF EID, and a specific EID prayer is practiced for this day.

ZAKAT AL FITR (also known as FITRANA ) is a MANDATORY CHARITABLE DONATION OF FOOD that must be given BEFORE the EID NAMAZ PRAYER.

Zakat Al-Fitr is COMPULSORY upon every self-supporting adult Muslim who has food more than their needs, on behalf of themselves and their dependents. Translate to approximately USD $5. (FIVE Dollars) for each person.
