You like to see SIXES sailing high into the sky. You enjoy the excitement of T20 cricket! Well, the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is just for you. As the 20 teams prepare for the showdown in 55 matches in the biggest ICC global event of all time, SIXES promise to be the name of the game.

We expect to see boundaries being broken, new records being set, stats being eclipsed … and we want to see the ball being hit “Out of this World”.

So, who is the king of SIXES? There can only be one man. Chris Gayle. The Universe Boss has the record for the most sixes in the history of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He started with a big bang in September 2007 when he gate-crashed the event with a century on the opening night against South Africa at the Wanderers in Johannesburg. That set the tone for his fantastic career as the undisputed king of T20 sixes.

Gayle has the most SIXES in the tournament’s history – with a whopping 62 – nearly double the next-best batter Rohit Sharma with 35. The Indian skipper will be in action in June, so he will have a chance to get closer to Gayle’s phenomenal numbers. Gayle’s feats don’t stop here: he is the only batter to make two centuries in the history of the Tournament. His second ton came against England in 2016 at the Wankhede in Mumbai – when he scorched 11 maximums – the most in a single innings.

Next on the charts are: Yuvraj Singh, the Indian legend and Jos Buttler, the England captain who lifted the trophy in the last edition. They both have 33. In a remarkable display of power-hitting, six of Yuvraj’s SIXES came in that famous over off the bowling of Stuart Broad in 2007 – the only occasion a batter has hit six SIXES in an over in the Tournament.

Big SIXES are a huge fun part of T20s. —a huge and fun part. I’m not sure who remembers it, but many cricket fans worldwide can remember how the 2016 Final ended in Kolkata with Carlos Brathwaite delivering – SIX-SIX-SIX-SIX, and giving the West Indies one of the most incredible wins in the history of this form of the sport.(CWI)
