BEIJING, March 1 (Xinhua) — President Xi Jinping said young officials are successors to the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics and called on them to stay true to the Party’s founding mission, work hard and take on their historical task on the new journey.

Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks in an important instruction conveyed at the opening ceremony of a training program for young and middle-aged officials at the Party School of the CPC Central Committee (National Academy of Governance) on Friday.

Xi urged them to remain confident in the Party’s new theories and actively put them into practice. They should yield concrete results in enhancing their understanding of Marxist theory and the ability to apply them in practice, he said.

They must actively practice loyalty and honesty toward the Party, and must make their political stance clear, said Xi. He called on them to strictly abide by the Party’s political discipline and rules, always be honest, do solid work, and maintain a high degree of unity with the CPC Central Committee at all times.

They should be selfless and dedicate themselves to improving the well-being of the people, Xi said, stressing that they must always put the people first and have a correct understanding of what it means to perform well.

Xi also encouraged them to better shoulder responsibilities, be keen on reform and innovation, dare to confront difficulties, and be capable of overcoming obstacles, and continuously break new grounds in their work.

They should also do their part in promoting a sound political ecosystem and maintain the spirit of self-reform, said Xi.

Party organizations at all levels should educate, manage and oversee officials strictly and cultivate reliable successors who can shoulder the responsibility of building a strong country and realizing national rejuvenation.

Cai Qi, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, addressed the opening ceremony.

Stressing that Xi’s important instruction is an action guide for young officials to become more competent, Cai urged young officials to strengthen theoretical study and apply their study outcomes into the practice of fulfilling duties.

Cai asked them to keep in mind the maxim of serving the people, stand firmly with the people, and do solid work concerning people’s well-being in a down-to-earth manner. ■
