February 1, 1865, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln signs the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution. The Thirteenth Amendment outlawed slavery in the United States. February 1 is known as National Freedom Day in its honor. February 3, 1870, The Fifteenth Amendment to the Constitution is ratified.

Black History Month was created to focus attention on the contributions of African Americans to the United States. It honors all Black people from all periods of U.S. history, from the enslaved people first brought over from Africa in the early 17th century to African Americans living in the United States today.

KUWAIT NATIONAL DAY ON February 25 EACH YEAR
The Kuwait National Day is celebrated on February 25 every year. This special holiday commemorates the day that Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became the ruler of Kuwait in 1950. Al-Sabah was an exceptional leader.

KUWAIT LIBERATION DAY ON February 26 EACH YEAR

Liberation Day, marks the end of the Gulf War and the liberation of Kuwait from Iraqi occupation on February 26th, 1991.

Iraq interpreted Kuwait’s refusal to decrease its oil production as an act of aggression. The increasingly tense relations between Iraq and Kuwait were further aggravated when Iraq alleged that Kuwait was slant-drilling across the border into Iraq’s Rumaila field.

The Iraqi invasion of Kuwait began on 2 August 1990 and marked the beginning of the Gulf War. After defeating the State of Kuwait on 4 August 1990, Iraq went on to militarily occupy the country for the next seven months, with IRAQ DEFEAT and RETREAT on February 28, 1991.

Active resistance to the invasion lasted about 14 hours, during which time an estimated 4,200 Kuwaitis were killed in combat. Although remnants of Kuwait’s 20,000-man army maintained a spirited defense over the next 36 hours, the Iraqi takeover of Kuwait city was completed with little difficulty.

The invasion of Kuwait led to a United Nations Security Council embargo and sanctions on Iraq and a U.S.-led coalition air and ground war, which began on January 16, 1991, and ended with an Iraqi defeat and retreat from Kuwait on February 28, 1991.

The COALITION CONSISTED  of 42 COUNTRIES, and was spearheaded by the United States: the central command was led by the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom; the marine command was led by the United States; the Joint Forces East Command was led by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Morocco, Kuwait, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Poland, and Czechoslovakia; and the Joint Forces North Command was led by the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, Australia, Japan, and Turkey. On 23 February 1991, the aerial bombardment campaign came to an end as the coalition began a large-scale ground offensive (the Liberation of Kuwait campaign) into Iraqi-occupied Kuwait and parts of Iraq. The Iraqi military was devastated in the fighting, and Kuwait was declared completely free of occupying Iraqi troops on 28 February 1991.

Estimated number of Iraqi troops in the Kuwait theatre range from 180,000 to 630,000, and estimates of Iraqi military deaths range from 8,000 to 50,000. Allied casualties, by contrast, were remarkably light.

Kuwaitis Honor Bush’s Mideast legacy for leading 1991 Gulf War

AL-JAHRA, Kuwait — On the outskirts of Kuwait City, the love Kuwaitis have for former U.S. President George H.W. Bush could be seen in 2016 on a billboard one Bedouin family put up to announce their son’s wedding. That son being Bush al-Widhan, born in the aftermath of the 1991 Gulf War that saw U.S.-led forces expel the occupying Iraqi troops of dictator Saddam Hussein. President Bush, was a real man, a lion,” said Mubarak al-Widhan, the father of the Kuwaiti Bush, about the American president. “He stood for our right for freedom, and he gave us back our country.”

ANIMALS CRUELTY in Guyana, DO need Urgent IMPROVEMENTS : WE Can and Must Do Better.

Mr. GOBIN HARBHAJAN (Berbice)  since 2010 has been ADVOCATING DAILY for LESS CRUELTY to ALL ANIMALS. His February 15 “ Gobin’s post” is hereunder. Do know, others are also trying. BUT the problem IS CONTINUING and INCREASING.  Animals are with LIVES and ARE BLESSINGS.    VV.  “Just an update, I call Hon Minister AG Mr Anil Nandlall Esq, and I explained.   AG was surprised when I explained about the cow and calf at Springland, and he will intervene in the matter. Thank you, Hon Minister AG Anil Nandlall, Esq. “

Mr Forbes said “ This must be the mother of ALL STUPIDITY. Why should it take a set of policemen, over one month to ascertain who is the rightful owner of a cow and its calf ?.

This is not rocketing science to find the owner, since each cow carries a brand. Why should such a simple matter have to engage the attention of the office of the DPP. Maybe the cows might do a better job running the station ?.” and “ One philosopher opined that there would come a time, when mankind’s intelligence will turn against them. Maybe we are witnessing the revelation of what he Prophesied unfolding at the Springlands Police Station.”

Mr. Abdulla, said  “ This reminds me about the COW CALF at 51 police station, luckily myself and Harbajan took drastic steps to help, CUTTING GRASS and serving it with WATER almost DAILY, I had TO BUY that CALF just to SAVE HIS LIFE from those police at 51 police station.”

Doc. Dalloo. “ There is a similar situation closer to me. There is this guy who buys cows and takes them to the abattoir in Georgetown to be slaughtered.  As he buys them, he keeps them in his truck until he has a full load. You can imagine the ones purchased early are in the truck without water and grass for days.”

URGENT improvements are STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. Dear READERS, do PLEASE SPEAK UP. WhatsApp and Social Media Messages are being Sent to His Excellencies The President, Prime Minister, Vice President, and First Lady for their gracious and URGENT support for IMPROVEMENTS. With the many visitors in Guyana this is a VERY BAD IMAGE.
